I had a great run this morning! Did my “long winter loop” at my fastest pace so far: 3.76 miles in 30 minutes. 392 calories, average speed was 7.3 mph! I could not believe it, I just had lots of energy so I kept the pace up. I did go to bed at a decent time last night, and did some yoga before going out for the run. I always stretch a bit before running, but have wanted to do an actual yoga session before running; I just have never gotten up in time. This morning I did most of the 20 minute Yoga for Runners (good choice, huh?)

Had a good lunch workout – lifting. I was actually looking forward to it for a change! The weight room was rather crowded and too warm due to the sun streaming in through the windows so my motivation was flagging, but then I went into the Pilates room and banged out some lunges, mountain climbers, jacks, and side planks, along with ab work. Got back to work and had burrito I brought from home. It was very tasty, but then the hunger started.

This is how my afternoon went:

1:45 pm (about half hour after finishing lunch) I am so hungry, when is snack time?
2:00 pm Still hungry (make tea)
2:30 pm Is it 3 yet? (make more tea)
2:46 pm Attempt to take dog for walk, forgot leash, so just stretch a bit
3:00 pm woohoo snack time!
3:10 pm still hungry after eating snack, have half teaspoon almond butter
3:45 pm still hungry (make more tea)
4:00 pm screw it, still hungry, chomp down Lara bar
4:02 pm feel guilty for eating entire Lara bar
4:33 pm still kinda hungry, lol

I guess I will have to eat light tonight, but my neck is aching so I am already thinking about a glass of wine while I cook. On tonight’s “cooking agenda”: stir-fry chicken, turkey meatballs with spaghetti squash, and bottle kombucha (possible make more).

I just ordered a Polar RS200SD Running Heart Rate Monitor Watch to track my runs with Mallie. We have been running through the park a lot lately (before I got sick) and I really have no idea how fun I have been running. So I am excited to get the watch and track my runs. I have been looking at them for awhile, it’s so hard to figure out what is the best option. I will write up a review soon!

You know I love running with my dog, Nick. But I always found the leash cumbersome, and felt that I couldn’t run as naturally when holding it. But then I found The Buddy System – hands free leash. Product description from their website:

We all need a little extra motivation once in a while. Nothing like a look from your “best friend” to get you going. But handling a leash can make a chore out of a great run, walk, or hike. Designed by active pet owners, The Buddy System is a unique hands-free leash system designed to make it easy to take your best friend along.

This product is sturdy and offers great flexibility. It is made of nice, wide, soft nylon. It can be used it for 1 or 2 dogs at a time. The clips on the leash also allow you to unclip the dog (via a big plastic buckle) and hook the leash back up on the belt (for hands-free carrying). I got it in black, so it blends right in with my black jogging pants and shorts. If you are a runner, jogger, or even walker and have been reluctant to take your dog on walks because of the hassles of a regular leash – this is the solution for you.
